Pricing · Flat written quotes · No hourly billing

Pricing: what a website costs.

Websites from $1,500 CAD. Every project — new build, rescue, application or automation — gets a flat written quote before work begins. No hourly meter, no change-order surcharges, no invoice arriving larger than the conversation that preceded it. Here is exactly how the number is arrived at.

The starting price is a real starting price, not a lure. It buys a complete standard business site, designed and hand-built, live on hosting you own.

DESIGN, BUILD, AND LAUNCH · QUOTED FLAT

Strategy and information architectureDesign and hand-built developmentHosting, SSL, and domain setupTechnical SEO and analyticsA real launch—not a handoffOngoing care available after launch

Copywriting, e-commerce, custom integrations, and application functionality are scoped separately. Rescue and adoption projects are quoted after a paid, time-boxed diagnosis. Larger web-product work is quoted around the actual problem. Prices in Canadian dollars.

02 / By serviceHow each kind of work is priced

Four services, one method.

Everything is quoted flat and in writing. The only thing that changes between services is what has to be known before an honest number exists.

P-01

Web development

New websites and rebuilds start from $1,500 CAD. The scope is agreed in plain language first — pages, functionality, who supplies the content — and then priced as one number.

P-02

Website rescue

Quoted after the paid, time-boxed diagnosis — no fixed bids on unknowns. You get a written assessment and a firm flat quote, and you keep the assessment whatever you decide.

  • Diagnosis first, quote second
  • Repair-or-rebuild answered in writing
  • Ownership recovery included in scope
  • Website rescue details
P-03

AI app rescue

Same method, different codebase. The diagnosis establishes what the generated build actually does, then harden-and-ship or adopt-and-run is quoted flat against that.

  • Diagnosis first, quote second
  • Harden and ship, quoted as a project
  • Adopt and run, quoted as ongoing care
  • AI app rescue details
P-04

Applications and automation

Priced around the actual problem rather than a package tier, because a calculator and a data pipeline are not the same job. Product definition comes first and narrows the scope until a firm number is possible.

  • Scoped before it is priced
  • Prototype where the shape is uncertain
  • Monitoring and iteration available
  • Automation details
P-05

Ongoing care

Hosting, updates, monitoring and changes after launch — optional, quoted flat, sized to what the site or system actually needs. Launch is the start of operations, not the finish line.

  • Available after every project
  • Not a lock-in — you own everything
  • Same team that built it
  • The practice behind six live products
P-06

The paid diagnosis

The bounded first step on every rescue: what it is built on, what still updates, what is exposed, who owns which account, and whether to repair or rebuild. Paid because it is real work; time-boxed so the cost is known up front.

  • Written report you keep
  • Time-boxed and agreed in advance
  • Feeds directly into the firm quote
  • No obligation to continue

03 / VariablesWhat moves the number

Why quotes differ.

Nothing here is a surprise charge — these are the four things we ask about before quoting, because they are what actually changes the amount of work.

V-01

Size and structure

A focused site with a clear path through it costs less than one with many sections, audiences and content types. Structure is decided together, in plain language, before the number is written down.

V-02

Words and content

Copywriting is scoped separately. If you supply the content, that is genuinely cheaper; if you would rather we wrote it, it goes into the quote as its own line rather than being smuggled into the total.

V-03

Selling and integrating

E-commerce, payments, bookings and integrations with the systems you already run are scoped separately, because each one is a system with its own edge cases, not a checkbox.

V-04

Real functionality

When the site has to do something — portals, calculators, accounts, APIs — it stops being a website and becomes an application. That work is quoted around the problem. See applications and automation.

The commercial terms, plainly

What we don’t do.

Most unpleasant surprises in this industry are pricing surprises. The model here is deliberately boring: one number, agreed in writing, before anyone opens an editor. If the scope genuinely changes, you hear the price before the work happens — never on the invoice.

Not how we bill

  • No hourly meter running in the background
  • No change-order surcharges on agreed scope
  • No fixed bids on unknowns — diagnosis first
  • No account-management layer to pay for
  • No lock-in: the domain, hosting and code are yours

04 / QuestionsPricing, answered

Pricing questions.

How much does a website cost?

A standard business site from NeuroLabs starts from $1,500 CAD, quoted flat and in writing before work begins. That covers strategy and information architecture, design, hand-built development, hosting, SSL and domain setup, technical SEO and analytics, and a real launch. Copywriting, e-commerce, custom integrations and application functionality are scoped separately, so the final number reflects your site rather than a package tier.

Why don’t you charge hourly?

Because an hourly meter puts us on opposite sides of every decision. If a better approach takes longer, hourly billing rewards us and punishes you; if we work efficiently, we earn less for doing better work. A flat quote agreed before code starts removes that argument entirely — the number is the number, and how long it takes is our problem.

What is a paid, time-boxed diagnosis?

It is the first, bounded piece of work on any rescue or adoption: we go through the existing site or application and establish what it is built on, what still updates, what is broken or exposed, who owns which account, and whether it should be repaired or rebuilt. It is paid because it is real work, and it is time-boxed so the cost is known up front. You keep the written report whatever you decide next.

How are website rescues priced?

After the diagnosis, never before it. No fixed bids on unknowns — an inherited codebase cannot be honestly priced sight-unseen, and anyone who quotes one without looking is either guessing or planning to renegotiate later. Once we know what is actually there, the rescue gets a firm flat written quote like any other project.

Do you charge extra for changes after the quote?

Not for the work we quoted. There are no change-order surcharges on scope we already agreed. If you ask for something genuinely new — a feature that was not in the scope, an extra section, an integration nobody mentioned — we price it separately and you decide before it is built. Nothing gets added to an invoice you have not seen.

What does ongoing care cost?

Ongoing care — hosting, updates, monitoring and changes — is available after every project and quoted with the same flat, written approach, sized to what the site or system actually needs. It is optional, not a lock-in: you own the domain, the hosting account and the code repository either way.

Describe the project — new site, rescue, or something that has to actually do a job — and you will get a direct reply from the people who would build it.
